Palo Santo & Patchouli Vert Eau De Parfum

Created by perfumer-creator Jean-Michel Duriez, the Carlotha Ray fragrances have the same signature olfactory footprint, a connecting thread through the collection. Because Carlotha Ray designs are exclusively vegan, the perfumer took the same approach with the perfumes, creating an accord reminiscent of the scent of leather but made exclusively with vegetal notes. “Cuir de Fleur” (or flower leather in English) combines Maté’s powerful, herbaceous facets with Oakmoss, the essence of Juniper and Osmanthusa, a Chinese flower with a sweet, apricot fragrance and a base note elegantly reminiscent of leather. Carlotha Ray perfumes are crafted with vegan raw materials and responsibly sourced ingredients, and contain up to 20% upcycled ingredients and 90% natural-origin ingredients. They can be worn alone or layered together like a jewel all day long.

Inspiration

Jean-Michel Duriez delved into the childhood memories of the brand’s creator, such as the smell of talcum powder, burning candles, and guava leaves, to craft Palo Santo & Patchouli Vert. It is a scent reminiscent of her grandmother Carlotha’s room, where the windows looked out over deep, dense forests, the fragrance of palo santo wood furniture lingered, and where green patchouli leaves were delicately tucked into the linens to infuse them with scent.

Scent

Top notes of Pear, Saffron, Raspberry and Davana give way to a heart of Green Guava Leaf, Osmanthus, Cinnamon, Green Rose and Jasmine before a dry-down of Green Patchouli Leaf, Palo Santo, Maté, Oak Moss, Vegetable Leather and Cedarwood rounds out this unisex Floral-Fruity-Woody eau de parfum.

Bottle

Made from 40% recycled glass and remarkably lightweight, the ultra-slim bottle which features the ‘C’ of Carlotha Ray at its base has been designed to limit its weight and use of glass. With its detachable pump, it is easily refillable and recyclable and its beechwood cap, sourced from sustainably managed forests, is hand-polished for an artisanal finish. The box is made from FSC-certified Italian paper composed of recycled fibres, dyed and printed with vegetable inks, then shaped with water-based glue. As the sleeve is lifted, the base unfolds like the corolla of a flower, unveiling the bottle within.
